Why Is my Hot Towel Cabinet Leaking?

Troubleshooting step by step guide for your leaking or dripping Hot Towel Cabinet.

The combination of wet towels and the heat generated by the cabinet causes condensation (water droplets) to form inside the cabinet. This is normal and expected. This condensation is meant to exit the cabinet via a small hole in the door seal, and run into the drip tray below for collection. Water “leaking” from underneath the cabinet simply means that the drip tray is overflowing.

Tips & Solutions:

To minimise any chance of this over-flow, please ensure you observe the following:

1. Are the towels too wet? Ensure you wring the excess water out of the towels before placing them in the cabinet.

Failure to wring enough excess water out of the wet towels before placing them in the cabinet can produce excess condensation which “floods” the drip tray quickly .  Watch this video on how to prepare towels for your hot towel cabinet.

2. Ensure the drip tray is empty

It is normal for the cabinet to produce condensation (water droplets) due to the combination of wet towels and heat produced by the cabinet. This condensation/water is designed to exit the seal via the seal and run down to the drip tray. If the tray is full, the over-flow will spill onto the bench/trolley underneath and around the cabinet.

IMPORTANT:
Regularly check and empty the drip tray throughout the day, especially if you use a large amount of hot towels (the more towels used, the more condensation forms).

At the end of each day, empty the hot towel cabinet of unused towels, wipe down all surfaces inside and out, empty the drip tray and leave the door open overnight.
